Mid-America can effectively solve problems and identify growth opportunities because our consultants are seasoned mining experts who have the breadth of industry experience necessary to identify problems as well as their solutions.

Mid-America's clients include aggregates producers, coal companies and various other mining companies. They vary in size from small family owned businesses to Fortune 500 companies such as Bechtel Corporation.

Comprehensive Disciplines

Our management consulting practice focuses on identifying opportunities for business growth and increasing profits by applying the following comprehensive disciplines:

  • Operational Assessments

    • Develop profit improvement plans by systematically evaluating mine/quarry operations, historical performance, mine plans and budgets for ways to lower costs and capital requirements.

  • Strategic Business Planning

    • Develop long-term business plans for improved profitability and corporate growth. These comprehensive projects combine operational assessments, feasibility studies, and market studies to develop long-term business plans and pro forma financial statements.

  • Feasibility Studies

    • Evaluate project economic viability and identify risks and opportunities impacting future performance and profitability. Includes traditional business development investigations combined with a review of technical and operational considerations.

  • Market Studies

    • Determine mine's/quarry's competitive market position and identify business expansion opportunities by evaluating the dynamics of existing versus future market supply and demand.

  • Liability Transfers

    • Quantify the extent of the existing reclamation liability (both physical and financial) and develop and implement a plan to reduce the exposure. Often the solution is a reverse sale of the affected property combined with a definitive transfer of the liability by means of a combination of contractual obligations, permit and bond transfer, and liability insurance.
